Club Rounders 2008

Date: Sunday July 27th.

Meet: The top car park, top side of the pitch.

Time: 14:00 PM start time so arrive at 13:45 PM so we can sort the teams out.

Even if you don't fancy playing bring a chair or a rug as we can always use a supporting crowd.

Arrive having eaten as no food will be made available but drinks will be, for a small fee to cover the costs. They will be cold and in the form of beer, wine and soft drinks.

Spread the word, bring friends, family and fellow club people hopefully we can have some sunny shine on the day and enjoy the rounders. The only thing stopping this event from happening is the weather as rain will stop all play. Hope to see many of you there.

Your social captains Brooky & Steph.

The Rules

Two teams compete: Each team has a maximum of 15 players and a minimum of 6, no more that 9 can be on the field at one time.

Batting: Waiting batter wait well behind first post. The active batter one good ball bowled to them. It's a no Ball if its not a smooth underarm action from the bowler, if the ball is above head or below the knee, if it bounces on the way to the batter or if its wide or straight at the body, or if the bowler's foot is outside the square area during the bowl. Should you wish you can run on a no ball, but once you reach first post there is no return.

Scoring: 1 rounder if 4th post reached and touched before the next ball, 1 rounder if 4th post reached on no ball (no catch out), 1/2 rounder if 4th post reached without hitting the ball, 1/2 rounder if 2nd Post reached after hitting the ball, penalty 1/2 rounder for an obstruction by a fielder, penalty 1/2 rounder for 2 consecutive no balls (same batter), 1 rounder for a backward hit if 4th Post reached (you stay at 1st whilst ball is in the backward area).

Your out when: Caught by a fielder. By having a foot over the front or back line of the batting square before missing or hitting a good ball. By running inside a post. You're stumped at a post you are running to. You let go of the post during the bowl action whilst the bowler is in his square. By overtaking a fellow player. By obstructing.

Making a Run: Carry the bat, hold the post whilst at it. You can run to a post that has been previously stumped. Whilst the bowler has the ball in his square, you cannot move on, but if you are between posts, you can carry on to the next. No more than one batter at a post. you can stay at a post with a new ball bowled should you wish. Play starts when the ball leaves the bowlers hand - at this point you can run. To score on getting to last (or fourth post) you must touch the post.
